The Best Baked Beans
The Baked Beans
Hey Y'all!
I am back with another super simple recipe! This happens to be my go to recipe for OPBs (OTHER PEOPLE'S BARBEQUES) because not only are they excited to see that you put some effort, work, and a few coins into the beans, but also i've never heard a complaint on the taste. In fact, that leads me to the title. These are the best baked beans!! IMHO. Enjoy!
ingredients
ground beef
smoked sausage, beef is my go to
canned baked beans original
an equal sized can of regular beans or chili beans will do also
red bell pepper
green bell pepper
celery
onion
seasonings
seasoned salt
black pepper
onion powder or chopped onions
bbq seasonings
chipotle powder
ok, let's start with chopping up your onion, bell pepper, and celery to a small dice.
in a pot large enough to hold all the ingredient, begin browning your ground beef. This is an important step it's going to be the whole reason people truly appreciate these beans. There's meat in them, meat that wont look like dog food or scraps. The key.. After you place the beef in the hot pot let it sit, minimum 3 mins so i can crust up. from that point repeat the process careful not to overly break down the meat! unless that's what you prefer to do. after majority of the pnk is gone, lets drain off the fat. Now you can season the meat to taste.
No measurements got you upset? Don't be! The purpose of me doing things this way is to help and encourage others to grow not just in the mind but on the palate. Sometimes you have to trust yourself one day you may run out of seasoned salt. Then what are you gonna do? HUH? HUH? Kidding! If you can't figure it out watch the youtube video where you can see and gauge the seasoning amounts.
now, the beef is squashed👆🏽... LOL...
ok, the beef is browned we are going to add the veggies. Yes, you could have cooked them first, but you will miss out on this extra layer of flavor you couldn't have otherwise gotten unless you browned these veggies in beef fat..IJS
Brown all the veg with the beef until the veggies are softened.
Remove everything from the pot to a bowl on the side. IN THE SAME POT. Yes the same pot add your chopped sausages and brown on both sides.
at the point add everything you cooked to the pot, both cans of beans(you can keep the juices from the ther can of beans)
add your brown sugar to taste make a tablespoon at a time unless you comfortable,
bring to a simmer and cover on low for at least 1 hr. Checking and stirring every 20 mins or so.
TIP💡
After you make these put two bowls away from yourself then proceed. you will thank me later.
Now that your beans are cooked, and your cut is stashed!! Bag these babies up and get the party!
